Counselling and Psychotherapy

grandmotherThe Capstone Centre offers a range of services to the community, and sees adult clients for individual and group work. If you are experiencing difficulties in your life that are significantly affecting your world and how you function on a day-to-day basis, then counselling and psychotherapy can help you to understand yourself and others better, so that you can make positive changes in your life.

We also see children and young people who have experienced a loss or who are bereaved, and we work closely with the families to support these children at this difficult time in their lives.

Because each client is unique, 'one size does not fit all' and so we bring a variety of therapeutic models and expertise to the work (e.g. Existential therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy [CBT], Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Emotion Focussed Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing and Psychodynamic therapy) we individualise the work so that you gain the most benefit from the sessions with your counsellor/psychotherapist/psychologist.

The centre has a comprehensive assessment process and also makes referrals to other agencies, allied health professionals, counsellors, and psychologists as appropriate.

You do not need a referrral to make an appointment.

Clinical Supervision »

The Centre is committed to providing a clinical supervisory process and to fostering an environment of personal and professional development for our supervisees. The supervision process includes case conceptualisation, sociocultural contexts, an awareness of diversity and an emphasis on ethical decision-making processes.

The integration of theoretical knowledge, competence and competencies, experiential work, assessment processes and clinical supervision; the refinement of a personal counselling style and the development of collegial and professional relationships are core elements of our practice.

Supervisee feedback regarding the supervisory process is an important part of the continual evaluation of the work and its relevance to industry standards and requirements as a way of improving both the supervisory and learning experience.

We are committed to individual and cultural diversity in all aspects of our work; and to providing current research material and clinical practice skills; to engage in professional development to further develop skills relevant to the training of professional counsellors.

We strongly encourage our supervisees to create a healthy balance between their family, social life and work.

External and Management Supervision »

Our focus is on the ability to work with systems in the workplace, both from an administrative and staff perspective and creating a supportive learning environment. The aim is to build effective relationships and collaborative work practices that will benefit the staff, the organisation and its clients.

Is your organisation considering making changes in the workplace?

Are you wanting to implement further training and education to enhance your organisation's profile?

The Capstone Centre can provide your organisation with tailored training, coaching and support to reach your potential.

Effective change management requires the dissemination of accurate information to the organisation and staff. This information demonstrates a clear vision of the future of the organisation and its goals. Successful change management transitions utilise effective consultation processes, communication, staff support and sufficient resources to achieve their stated goals. Understanding how your staff responds to change is a vital key in your engagement and success for the future.

At the Capstone Centre we can tailor training for managers to assist them to effectively articulate the organisations vision and goals. We can provide focus groups and training for your staff to enable them to have a voice in the change process. The aim is to have everyone 'on the same page' to positively drive the change.

Josephine is a lecturer, trainer and educator, with expertise in training/workshop design and curriculum design and can provide the tools to assist you in changes in the workplace, or the provision of ongoing training to support your staff.
